Happy Halloween!!

Well, since it's Halloween today, we'll be doing various things, and I'll be adding to this post as the day goes on.

So, starting this morning, I made little shapes in Alan and Sarah's sandwhiches in their lunches.

Then, Kaitlyn, William, and the little girl I
babysit got a pumpkin ready to carve.

After school Alan and Sarah got to help carve their pumpkins. Here they are getting the "goo" out of the middle.

Here's Kaitlyn playing with the shapes that came from the Jack-O-Lanterns, and seeing how they fit back inside the pumpkin.

Here they are all lit up outside.

Here they are in their costumes. Alan's costume is a cheap storm trooper costume that I glued craft foam to it to make it look more real.

Kaitlyn's costume is red unitard that I just sewed a tail to and then glued dots all over it. Sarah's costume is an old ballet costume we got from a friend that we converted into a witch's dress. We added the green hair, hat, broom, and rainbow socks to finish the look. And William's costume is a store bought pumpkin costume.

We took the kids trick or treating in our neighborhood. We live only a block away from a friend in our ward who throws a Halloween party every year. We always go trick or treating down to their house and back.
On of our good friends came over with her little boy just as we were getting ready to go trick or treating, and they went with us. Her husband had to work tonight, and she wanted her son to have some good friends to be with. I was happy to have them come. It made me feel alot better to have someone else with us, because I really missed having Tom around today. I think the kid's were happier with their friend with them too.

The first fire of the season

We're so excited that we get a real autumn this year!! (At least for this week. It will probably be warm again next week.) I actually built a fire in the fireplace this week and we roasted marshmallows over it. Cold weather is so cozy. We love to sit around the fireplace and read stories, or watch a movie and have popcorn by the fire. We just wish our Daddy were here with us to enjoy it too.

William is 11 months old!

William turned 11 months old yesterday. He's our happy little dimple-cheeked baby. We love him so much!!

Parties and more parties...

Sarah and her friend enjoying goodies.

Kaitlyn stomping around in her dinosaur outfit-she insisted on being a "red dinosaur".
I did the best I could.

Alan in his Storm Trooper outfit. Notice the gun on the side? We're in the south remember, and no one even cared that he had a realistic looking gun. ... Wow I'm not in Washington anymore am I?

Saturday we had two Halloween parties to go to, plus a birthday party. We couldn't make the birthday party because it was inbetween the two Halloween parties, but we did go to the other two. The first Halloween party was a nice little party for young kids. The second one was a big party with mainly big kids in scary costumes, loud music, and gross looking food. If I'd known the second party was going to be like that, we probably wouldn't have gone-my kids are a little too young for stuff like that. Especially Kaitlyn and William. The second party was one that one of Sarah's best friend's throw every year for all their kids and their kid's friends. They have kids ranging from 7-12 or 13? Anyway, that party was majority young teens. Not a place for babies. We only stayed a little while, especially since we still go to bed at 8:00pm at our house. I think Alan and Sarah had fun although I had to constantly remind them that the scary creatures they were seeing were just people dressed up. When we got home Kaitlyn insisted on sleeping on Alan's floor in her sleeping bag. I just let her. We won't be going to that party next year....

One good thing though, we now have our costumes all ready for Halloween next week!!

Here's William in a costume that Sarah wore when she was 18 months old and walking.
William is already too big for it at 10 months-if he were standing you'd be able to see that the costume legs are too short, and the sleeves are just barely long enough.

Dozens and Dozens of Cupcakes!

I volunteered to make 6 dozen cupcakes for Alan and Sarah's School Fall Festival. I ran the enitire Festival the last two years, so just making a few cupcakes was nothing compared to the work I did before. Kaitlyn had a ton of fun helping me too.
