This year we had 4th of July without Tom. It was a little sad, but we invited our friends the Ence's over. We barbecued hot dogs, steaks, and chicken and had lots of other yummy food.
The kids wanted to do a little parade in the evening since we decided not to go see fireworks without Dad. I got them little glow sticks with stars on the end of them at the Dollar Store for fun.

Red white and blue oreo cakesters. I made the blue cookies using a confetti cake mix with blue food coloring, and I made the red cookies with a strawberry cake mix and red food coloring.
No 4th of July is complete with out the apple pie!!
Our yummy chip dip dressed up like a flag!! This dip is basically a batch of chili, cream cheese, a can of rotel tomatoes and green chilis, cream of mushroom soup, and salsa.

Red white and blue jello!! The middle part is lemon jello, whipped cream, and cream cheese.
It was a good 4th although we wished Tom were here, and we wished we had gone to see the fireworks anyway... oh well there's always next year. Hopefully he'll be home for the 4th next year....but even if he's not we're going to see the fire works. It just wasn't the same without going...
